As long as you have an active utility account, you're eligible for a community solar program. You don't have to be the home owner; community solar is available to renters, small businesses, and churches alike. No one is exempt from a lower electricity bill and an even lower carbon output.
Once enrolled in a community solar program, your allocated share of the solar farm earns you bill credits. These bill credits are automatically applied to your account to provide you with a lower electricity bill (and in some cases, eliminate) the amount you owe the utility company.
This solely depends on the community solar program in the state you reside in.
(please refer to the "How Community Solar Works" Video)
ie: In New York State most utilities have reached consolidated billing
However it is important to remember:
You Always Receive Your Benefits Before You Pay!
If you are moving to a residence that is still in the area of eligibility for your community solar program, then you can take your subscription with you! (ie: From Portland to Augusta)
With your community solar program, you will have access to a software portal that will allow you to preview the solar production, monetary savings and environmental impact that's possible with your support of our program. Now that you have a lower electricity bill and you are supporting renewable energy, the rest is just sitting back and enjoying it.
(You can easily access your portal with your username and password you created upon enrollment)
